Excavate in Pintia

The Pintia Project finances itself through several programs, such as the guided tours, our Online Shop, Archaeology for Kids, and most importantly, the excavation initiatives.

Fieldwork at Pintia takes place primarily in the summer, so not to overlap with the academic year at Spanish and international universities. Working at Pintia is open to all who want to participate and who comply with the requirements and payments for each program.

Archaeology in Family Program: an activity for all

If you intend to introduce archaeology as a great family activity, or if you would like to promote and amplify your relative's sensibility towards Archaeological Heritage, or if you would just like to enjoy a completely different activity in nature, here's your chance to make it come true!

The archaeologist's "Archive" is the earth that holds a forgotten heritage at times hard to identify. With the proper methodology we can recover and understand the same. We want all parents along with their kids to enjoy a unforgettable experience, together with our archaeologists and students all of whom participate in Pintia's Project.

Due to the concurrence of other activities during the same dates, this year two shifts are established during July 2019, with a maximum of 12 participants per shift, to be held during the days 12, 13 and 14 (first) and 19, 20 and 21 (second).

•Friday (morning): Welcoming session at the CEVFW building from 10:00 to 10:30h. Coffee or chocolate and a brief introduction to Pintia's Archaeological Site. After the introduction, we will move on to the site where the basic concepts and archaeological methodology will be thoroughly explained by excavating a replica of a Vaccean tomb. Lunch at 14:30h.

•Friday (afternoon): from 18:00 to 20:30h., excavation at the necropolis Las Ruedas. We will work with trowels, brushes, sifters, etc. and draw basic croquis, mapping and explain archaeological photography.

•Saturday (morning): if you wish you may join the archaeological work at the excavation from 7:30 to 12:30/13:00h. A small brunch will be served from 10:15 to 10:45h. Lunch at 14:30h.

•Saturday (afternoon): same activities as the previous day; a fieldwork excavation diary will be duly elaborated.

•Sunday (morning): same schedule and activities as per Saturday's program. Lunch at 14:30h.

•Sunday (afternoon): Vaccean ceramic workshop, sharing experiences, Diploma ceremony and farewell (at 19:00h).

•Inscription fee: € 125 per person. The fee is to be settled by bank transfer to Asociación Cultural Pintia bank account: please email us at cevfw@uva.es to confirm our bank account and any other details, indicating the shift in which the registration is desired.
